Josh’s mother passed away when Josh, now 18, was 10 years old from Huntington’s, the disease carries a 50% chance of being genetically inherited and Josh is currently awaiting his test results to ascertain whether he carries the disease. At the moment there is no cure and Josh is determined to climb Mont Blanc in Switzerland to raise both awareness and money to fund research into developing a cure for the future.

A minimum of £2000 is needed to take part in the August charity event and he approached Murray Hills Solicitors for sponsorship. Murray Hills have assisted many local charities in the past and Josh’s story struck a chord with managing Director Mr Keith B Murray, who said
“Murray Hills are a local Solicitors and try to help our local community whenever we can, we received an email from Josh and upon reading the same I could see how determine he is to do something good in the memory of his mum and raise awareness of this disease to hopefully find a cure in the future, I therefore immediately offered our help.”

Huntington Disease Association is a registered charity who support people affected by the disease, provide training, care and advise to families. They also strive to raise awareness and work towards better treatments and ultimately a cure.
Josh added
It is a horrible disease and can be hard for anyone affected by it. I wish to raise both money and greater awareness with my upcoming mountain trek

Various events are being organised to assist in raising the money needed to take part in the event including a charity night on the 17th February. A just giving page has been set up for donations and to find out more about the story  Giving

Murray Hills Solicitors wish Josh all the best and hope to be able to help him raise as much money and understanding as possible of Huntington’s Disease.
